Some Secrets Should Never Be Kept can be read by any age group. However, I wrote the book with quite young children in mind, as they are the most vulnerable to sexual predators. Young children (roughly in the 3 to 7 year old age group) just want to be ‘good’ and do as they are told. If they don’t understand that they have rights in relation to their own bodies, they are more likely to comply with the perpetrator and be coerced into not telling what has happened to them. However, in saying that, this book has been read with 12 year-old boys who took the topic quite seriously and a very useful discussion ensued.
