Young children (roughly in the 3 to 7 year old age group) just want to be ‘good’ and do as they are told. If they don’t understand that they have rights in relation to their own bodies, they are more likely to comply with the perpetrator and be coerced into not telling what has happened to them. However, in saying that, this book has been read with 12 year-old boys who took the topic quite seriously and a very useful discussion ensued.
